Yes, I have one Hall effect switch for each stepper motor (or, 2 for each of the X and Y axes, and one for the Z-up) and I have to say that after a year of using the machine, they work very reliably. I carefully measured their repeatability and it came out to about 15 microns. The standard microswitches actually came out a bit better, about 10um. (standard deviation of many measurements using a digital micrometer to trigger them.)
