I’ve used combine infill on Simplify3d, when using 0.15 layer height I combine x2 to get 0.3. At low infill percentage and low layer heights, sometimes I don’t get infill, I get particles of crap in the interior. Thicker infill helps and the time saving is a bonus.
For a regular 0.4 mm nozzle 0.48 would not be advisable but for your large nozzle it should be fine. I don’t see any reason this wouldn’t work for printing MPCNC parts.
I can confirm missing all the thin infill layers in this case (only the combined layers being tried, some of them succeding, most of them not -“printing in the air”):
3d honeycomb infill 2%
0.6 nozzle with 0.68 line width
line height 0.12
combine infill layer at each 3 layer
3x0.12 = 0.36 which is absolutely fine for 0.6 nozzle, but volume was computed for 0.12.
I guess too many factors go against printing low levels infill: low volume, 3d honeycomb and low infill percent. If one of them would be different I guess it would work (haven’t tried successfully so far, as it’s my first attempt).
Thanks
