Print issues

Try cleaning the nozzle/hot end with the long thin wire that came with your machine. Remove the filament and heat the nozzle, then run the wire through the nozzle several times, pulling at different angles. A clog can give you at least some of the issues that you are experiencing.

I have started a new 13 hour print with the following changes.

  1. Max Volumetric speed is 15 mm3/s. Instead of unlimited.
  2. I made the inner wall speed 150mm/s. This matches the outer wall speed. I had a thought that the inner wall may be effecting the outer wall.
  3. I added a glue stick layer to the print bed for better adhesion.

This added a couple hours to my print, but I am not too concerned with print speed or pushing the boundaries of my printer. I care much more about print quality. I just don’t want to have to go excessively and unnecessarily slow. If going a little bit slower than the printer is capable of gives me better odds of a higher quality print then I am happy to make that trade off.

Here is my flow rate and speeds

My apologies - I did see that above.

Ryan suggested using magic erasers on my PEI and it works great.

Do I need to remove the leftover glue residue from the build plate before I do my next print? I know to clean off the old filament, but I don’t know if I can reuse the left over residue.

If it can be reused, how often do you reapply the glue stick?

These changes worked great. Looked much cleaner and the print stuck to the plate way better than I have ever seen. It was great. I do still have some excessive budging on very acute corners.

The glue stick is a great trick to bring consistency to adhesion if necessary. I actually use it more to keep PETG and TPU from sticking too much. But it can be useful is I want more adhesion without adjusting bed temp, adding brim, or other tricks.

I keep an eye on the bed. I reapply when it starts looking like an area isn’t covered well, every 3-4 prints for me. YMMV. I do clean the bed completely once I’m done with those prints and start again for my next project.
