Hi all, I decided to start building a Primo and the first group of parts just finished printing on my Longer Orange 30. I need to adjust my layout a little bit, as you can see a tiny bit got cut off the core clamp. Other than that, I will have to get creative for the largest parts since my build volume is only 120x68x170mm on the Orange 30. Thanks for checking out my parts
Will be interesting to see how well these parts hold up!
The small area where the core clamp got cut off seems to be a weak point. I broke one in half last night while removing it from the build plate. Luckily with photo cure resin, I can paint on a little as glue to put it back together. I may add a layer of epoxy to strengthen the area as well.
So what material is that? How does it compare to PLA in strength, flexibility, heat resistance?
Brittle brittle brittle!
I’ve seen folks mix Siraya Blu and Siraya Tenacious resins to make some really strong parts in the past. Might be an option to consider if you haven’t heard of those resins before.
Thank you for the tip, Mark! Honestly, I still feel like resin is strong enough, but the way I was pushing on it to remove it fronm the build plate was just asking for it to break. However, when you have parts with a 2mm wide point compared to 6mm+ in all other areas, yeah it’s going to break at that exact point whether it’s resin, PLA or steel.
I was not paying attention when removing it from the build plate and I broke it. That was my fault. However, I can see how even a person being very careful could easily break the part at the exact same place. It’s thin right there. Anyways, I’m not losing sleep over it. I will remember that in the future and be more careful.
Here is the next batch of prints, hot off the press!
@kd2018 This is a photocure resin from elegoo for SLA printers. Specifically, the water-washable photocure resin gray. I think it is very strong. The latest prints of the Corner Bottom could hold 200 lbs in tension, 400 lbs in compression, I think (yet to be tested of course).
