Prescription Safety Glasses

The algorithm has targeted me with ads for prescription safety glasses. I think that’s a great idea that I never thought about before. They’re something I would only wear in the shop and I hate wearing safety glasses over regular glasses.

Anyone have this or something similar? Or recommend something else?

There is one danger with this. I knew a guy who bought them and then wore them all the time. Even when going shopping. They were less “stylish” kind, like the one below

Weird guy it was. Good thing he was not a welder.

Some models will allow you to remove the side shields (and reinstall them) simply by sliding and rotating the shields. This allows you to use them both as safety glasses and as regular glasses.

I highly recommend these: https://johnmalecki.com/products/shop-shades-safety-glasses

I have the normal ones, and they are the best safety glasses I’ve used. I am thinking of getting some tinting ones.

Lol, I’m not likely to do that. I just got new normal glasses that I like just fine. I had a relative that wore safety glasses all the time. He was a bit weird too. Not that I’m not. Just a different weird.

I like the idea of having a dedicated pair. I have prescription sunglasses even though I know you can get clip ons.

While larger lenses are good for this, those are too big for my face. Plus with lenses that big, they’re going to be pretty thick with my prescription.

Many of us can use that line…

I can see that. Before my laser eye correction, I had really thick glasses too. I went through a lot of safety glasses trying to find some good one. I can wear these all day long in the shop and forget I even have them on unlike others that I want to only wear them as little as possible.

Yes, but it’s also nice to have the ability to use your safety glasses as emergency backups if/when you break./lose your primary eyeglasses.

(Ask me how I know…)

Well, I’ve already got at least 2 backups with close enough prescriptions plus I have contacts I never wear anymore. A good thought though.

@Bartman - Did you run yours over with the lawn mower too?

No, but I did stop a lawnmower blade with the toe of a steel toed boot once! (all 5 toes survived , but the boot was pretty much toast afterwards)

Pretty sure I would have needed new underwear after that one

I ordered a pair. We’ll see what I think.

Of new underwear, or the safety glasses?

I have a collection of prescription safety glasses. I wear them at work all the time. I have one pair Iiked a lot that I use when I cycle and I have a pair at home too.

I received them today. They look fine, are comfortable, and the prescription is good. However, I won’t recommend them because the hinge is low quality and question it’s longevity. It’s just a screw through plastic. At least there’s a 1 year warranty.
