It looks as though MKdocs has been left behind, but the theme we use on top of it, Material by Squidfunk has decided to fill the shoes. Here is a link of the announcement, Zensical - A modern static site generator - Material for MkDocs
I hope this goes as smooth as it seems, both packages combined seems great…but could also get us in trouble down the line.
Obviously, I am hopeful the great team at SquidFunk keep the good light framework progressing and keeping it simple for newbs like me.
