Ordered a V4 (kit) - Difficulty of upgrading size in 1 month?

This being my first large CNC, I hope to:

  • First set this up in my basement on a 54”x96” super-flat work table - to experiment and learn
  • Later (1-2 months) set it up in a detached garage, w/ a surface large enough to cut 4x8 sheets.

Questions:

  1. Is it mainly just about upgrading the rails later on?
  2. Or, should I start w/ the full-size build, and hack up my 54”x96” table top to make it large enough to fit?

Swap out rails and belts, swap out the strut plates for larger ones and you’re good.

Maybe add in a brace in the gantry, if the difference calls for it.

Of a this, rhe strut plates are thr big job, because it calls for a cut job, but your initial.planned size is good enough for strut plates for a full sheet build, so you don’t need to re-install the temporary struts if you cut the new ones before disassembly.

Update: I decided to not decide, and am building 2x LowRider v4’s at once. One for full sheets and one for my mobile workshop :sign_of_the_horns:
