Old Makerbot R1 for parts and MKS Gen L board

First post, so hello ?

I’m looking to build the MPCNC. I have an old Makerbot R1 sat doing nothing and requires much time and effort to get going again.

It struck me today I might be able to use the z screw, pulleys, and nema motors. Also I was thinking the driver’s could drop into the mks gen L board I was thinking of using that I have spare.

Any advice would be taken appreciated.

Thank you

Yeah I don’t see why not. You will need to adjust the steps and accelerations in the firmware.

I can’t find the specs on that stepper but it should be okay.

Thank you. I’ll see if I can get the old FW off the MB board and look for the original steps and Accel ?

Not the original, you will need new ones for the new parts, much easier.

Sorry, are you saying use the old driver's but buy new stepper motors?

Nope, just adjust the firmware to match your hardware. It is currently set for your printers belts and pulleys, when you change to the cnc belts and pulleys they will be different numbers.

Ah ok. I’m with you now. Top man. Thank you ?
