I would love to try this new setup
Very nice job !
Soon!
That is classy. I think I would really like that. What thickness is the glass? I guess there is no chance to fit in LEDs. But if I made this a table in my office, I suppose I shouldnât worry too much about lights. Dang.
If I let my mind wander, it kind of looks like you tipped it over on itâs side and the baking soda is just stuck to it Thatâs awesome.
The glass is probably ~3/16" it was from an ikea table (2 of them). I spent too much, but I desperately wanted the glass the same day. I think I linked it in the original thread. I am pretty sure the big fence glass I got was less expensive. No looking online I see you can buy tempered glass pretty cheap.
Everyoneâs favorite part⌠we need a name. I keep saving files with different names. Do you have to see an Assembly to decide?
Next Zen stopped being funny to me, ZenXY 2 is kinda boring but gets the job done. Any ideas?
I like ZenXY, because it can be shorter as ZXY, which I think is clever, and fits in the rest of the system.
Primo ZXY would be fine with me. It sort of looks like a similar evolution.
The ZXY2 is fine too. I think 3,4,5 is less fun, but the first sequel can easily get away with just a v2.
Maybe I should just build it into the cabinet thing I was talking about in that other thread? I canât figure out how to add a texture in onshape, but the orange part would be all ZXY. The black cage is my gridbot and the blue/orange is my wanhao i3 (or any other project, really). I have to leave a gap under it, because I have a heat register under there. It also seems prudent, since I might need it for desk space someday.
Sorry for hijacking this thread
Mr SandifyâŚyour desk should be a ZenXY, your entire desk. Put whatever you want on top of it.
I canât really type on a desk like that. I need the desk to be as thin as possible. Itâs my weird preference.
Matter of fact. I will pay for your glass and whatever parts you need. Let me buy you a Custom Zen desk, please!
Uhhhhh, fine
My desk with drawers is 6.5", I see what you mean. I used to have a glass desk no drawers and I did prefer it, but I really love having two thin drawers to keep the clutter away. Kinda

@vicious1 have you ever run it on a mirrored surface? Just a thought.
No, but now you have me wondering if it would mess with the magnetic field. Arenât they metallic coated?
Yes but not all use ferrous metals.
Iâm curious what would happen if you mount a strip of LEDs around the physical edge of a piece of glass thatâs being used as the base (rather than shining it down onto the sand). How much of the light would actually escape the top (rather than suffer total internal refraction)? Iâd think at a minimum, the bottom would have to be mirror coated.
