Newbie question - stepper motor drivers

Hi, newbie here from Australia, my first post and prob a dumb question…
Im looking at building the mpcnc… been looking at youtube videos to understand more. Please can someone explain wht some (other) builds have large external (from the main board) stepper motor drivers, where the mpcnc does not appear to?

It’s using smaller stepper motors than what you’re looking at so the drivers can also be smaller.

I use external drivers but in another thread we just had a comparison and the TB6600 for instance aren’t better than the small ones.
