New work outlet height setter

Need to start with a boring story here…

My electrical contractor uses a specific type of electrical box that is different from the boxes I purchased for ethernet drops I put in. The boxes my contractor uses also have a different thickness on the top and bottom compared to mine and where the differences created a problem is that I found out he uses his hammer to measure the height for box placement.

I ended up figuring out that the problem I needed to solve for was setting boxes according to outlet plate screw placement and not measurement from the top or bottom to make sure all of the plates line up when it is time to finish everything.

Now, I could have used a tape measure, saved a little time and still came out ahead but did I do that? Nope! because that is what my CNC machine is for!

Most accurate boxes anywhere!

Nice jig! Next you’ll need one for cutting the drywall at the right height too.

Now you need to make something that prevents the rotten drywallers from ruining your cabling with their Rotozip…Not that I’m bitter about it…

The drywallers blame the electricians, the electricians blame the framers, the framers blame the cribbers…

Nice tool, should get good consistent results that way.

With that kind of accuracy, you can build a mobile robot to plug itself in.
