New project for 2026

Guys what can we as a community dream up for our pal Ryan so he can get some more traffic? must be something ? With our thoughts/dreams and his skills, we can make anything!

Funny thing I had an idea floating around in my head for a week or two. I sketched some of it out this morning already.

Had some parts come in for testing on another project the other day…unclear if that is a dead end or not.

Some furnature got a sketch in CAD.

I also opend CAD for a modern old school Arcarde cabinet. I have all the parts collected and need to do something with them, pi, joystick and buttons and a smallish older LCD. I just want some old school arcade games, like 1943…games like that. No need for a full 9000 game system.

I have projects on projects…I just need to focus on one or two not 8.

I had fun watching the progression of the lr4! ALOT of fun, so if that could be done again, PLEASE! I am getting to be an old man and fun is all that counts anymore ;l

If you figure out how to do that, let me know.

Wimp! Only 8! I ran out of fingers and toes LOONG ago (as my wife is happy to remind me). Reminds me of a business meeting at Intel in the early years of personal computers: When asked how many computer I had at home, at the time I had at least 25! (the current, actually functional and in use, count is 8, not counting phones or tablets).

I’m hoping to finish building my lr4, primo, and arcade too! One these will be finished in 4 months

Here’s hoping!

Instead of a single project - is there a repository for CNC projects that we can use? Is github suitable for that purpose, or just uploading files to the forum topic?

I’m not thinking about a printables/thingiverse but maybe a kind of instructables forum category as an extension of the existing gallery?

For instance - I’m currently building a small spray booth. It could be cnc cut, and there are some printed components. I could upload progress photos by way of instructions and link to Printables and Onshape - for the other stuff.

I haven’t thought through it too much obviously, but…

I just tried epoxy inlay and… an instructable here would have been useful. It would have been better if I had just centered it correctly and leveled the piece better. All from lack of experience.

I hate to sound so pedestrian, but my most pressing goals are to get my basement workshop decluttered and cleaned up. It’s horrible. I cannot even consider entertaining any more projects because I have no room to think. Can barely turn around!

LOL, I achieved that goal at least 4 times in 2025, and will probably have to do it at least another 4 times in 2026…

That’s why I am so slim, less cleaning, more turning.

I think this is a super tricky problem. I scroll through the gallery, and can click through to find more info.

But I think for it to work it needs categories and a decent search with images in the results. Github would be cool but I think it is too hard for the average user. Is there any open source thingiverse/printables/instructables framework? From there, just need a way to monitor it for spam.

Thinking more about it, it might be easier to get one of the big 3d printer files sites to add a CNC category. The files would be tiny, dxf’s and a CAD file or link. I guess pictures would still take up the most room.
What site wants users and is not affiliated with a 3D printer?

Man it would be nice if we could find a way to do that here. Something to bring more people into the V1 community when they go to google and search for DXF files.

Seems it would be possible to create a Discourse plugin, but that requires their Enterprise plan.

V1e.com ?

MakerWorld has laser files. They are the only one I know with a separate section for something other than printers

Something like this, but publicly shared and online?
