New Primo Build in Ottawa, Canada

I found the MPCNC online when I was looking to start a new project. It took me about 2 months to build so far, and I just did the Crown test last night. Success! Here is a video:

The part that took me the longest was trying to square the core. No matter how much I tightened the core clamps, they didn’t seem to make any difference in the alignment, and also never clamped down hard enough to prevent movement. No matter though! It seems to work just fine in the end!
I really like the tape measure trick for the z-axis wiring!
Before I install the spindle, I would like to build an enclosure to keep the dust levels down in the basement. This has been a fantastic project, I’ve been wanting to get a CNC for years now, and when I saw I could make my own, I jumped at the chance!

I swapped out the pen for a spindle and did a first cut tonight! My son drew up the design in Solidworks. So much fun!

That is a pretty clean build. I like it a lot.

Thanks!

Just finishing up the enclosure now. Next step is to make and mount some doors. And maybe a drawer at the bottom to store stuff.

That is an interesting machine and a cute cat. Can you post about it in a new thread?
