New MPCNC for 2020! - Primo -

Got my pipes - 25.6(!)mm SS from Jegs

Did it work with the 25.4 version? I only have access to 25.6mm tubes (~1.5mm thickness) and am afraid it might be too big…

My primo is a black / blue color scheme (but I printed my nut traps in red)… tenor

Shhhhhhh

They seem like they’re going to be fine. I did a few test fits and they fit nice and snug without any noticeable trouble.

New guy here. I may be the idiot in the room but what’s the changes/improvements over the Burly? I printed the burly back in November and just getting to assembly when I see the Primo info. Have I missed the changelog or still in the works? I wasn’t sure if I should start cutting pipe or hold off for the new version.

Rigidity, easier squaring, fewer parts,…?
I say if you have the parts you need, set it up and run it. You can print the primo parts whenever you want. You might even decide you want two.

Correct me if I’m wrong but aren’t you missing a couple trucks and tops. Otherwise it looks awesome! I’m just waiting for the funds to get rails.

It’s not fully detailed. As a v1 fanboy who hasn’t been cutting much lately, I am watching this with interest and curiosity. The plan was to make something that worked better and was easier to assemble based on feedback. I know Ryan has been working very hard. I haven’t seen any details published, part of the problem is that everyone’s improvements will vary since we all have a different setup.

I don’t know the impact it will have, but the bearings are placed a certain distance from the tubing to have a certain level of force/friction on the tubing once assembled. Thicker tubing will force the bearings closer. This might make some parts not fit at all once assembled, or some parts could be much tighter (and have more friction when moving) than they should.

yes, not quite done printing yet! Should be done by tomorrow. I had to order new spools of each color.

yeesh I hope I can make it work. Might be an expensive lesson if not.

Thats a bummer. I had to do the same though. I caused a failed print on the core and it had about an hour and a half left of 19+hr. :frowning: Face meet palm…
At least now i will be able to answer a question i have asked myself. What question is that you ask? How well near solid PLA holds up to .45 acp or 5.56… I feel like its a valid question.

Boy I really hope mine prints close to that… I started my core print this morning at 6 AM. Estimated print time is 19 Hours. Estimated weight is 364g. My roll showed between 30 and 35% of filament left on the roll… It’s gonna be close!

From what others have reported, the type of infill does make a difference, and I know that I could have speed it up but I left the speed settings to my known good settings.
Good luck and watch the end in case you have to do a filament swap.

Anybody else doing this? I wanted a scale with a smaller range so I could guess more accurately, but this was all I could find under 20 bucks. I’ve been watching some videos of arduino scales. If I can save the tare weight for the Spool I’ll be in business there. About 20 bucks I think, and consistent to a gram or better.

I have a ‘crack scale’ (what my wife called it the first time she saw it) that I use for weighing RC parts. I can’t find it since the move though.

The one problem I have is that a lot of these 3d filament companies use different spools. You’d have to keep a running list of what each of the brand’s empty weight is. It’d be really nice if they’d put the empty weight of the spool onto the product somewhere.

The spool I’m printing from now has a gradiated scale on the side that shows the percentage of the spool left. Some of the other companies even put a estimated weight and length left on the spool too.
