Sneak peak of the 660 mount being printed!

Okay, after lurking for two months you finally lured me out. I bought everything for the Burly in the last two months (25mm version, an Arduinoclub control board with a Mega nad TB6600 stepper drivers) after ordering a 3D printer that is going to arrive in August. The whole electronics are done.
I was thinking about a 60x80cm workspace and bought the rods accordingly. To be honest: I am still thrilled for the new version even though it means losing a bit of workspace. Nobody would keep me from building the Burly in August, but I am still going to build the Primo. Thanks for all the work you do!
Will you be releasing the models prior to getting inventory (if feedback goes well), or are you going to wait until its 100% available to order?
I’ve found that saying things out loud helps me to remember things, i just have to remember to say “Hey Siri, remind me to…” first.
What kind of a 3D printer is that?
Some special CoreXY version?
I don’t mean to be that guy, but at this point, since all the files are done for the Primo, should I wait to build? I just printed the first couple pieces for the Burley, but, it would be better to restart now than later.
I tend to agree. You’ll typically get a lot of deflection and chatter prior to using all of the available power in the 660 much less the 611. The only reason I’d recommend the 611 would be for people that want speed control built into the router. 27k-29k can be a little bit much with the 660
And will the in stock notifications on the existing MPCNC bundle work when Primo is released or will you be doing a new shop entry.
Well… They aren’t all done… The 25.4mm (Jumbo or 1" OD) parts are mostly done (I think they’re waiting on a few more beta runs), and the 25mm (Foreign or non-US) should be close behind, but the 24.5mm (Conduit or 3/4" EMT) could be a month or more out.
Edit: The 25mm may be a little slower than it could be simply because of the scarcity of 25mm tubing in the US. If Ryan has to rely solely on beta testers for even simple fitment tests, it will slow things down quite a bit.
Thanks for the response, I’ll get building then. I’m sure there will be revisions I’d like to make once I finish my first build regardless, so, it will be a good learning experience and stepping stone into the 2020 design!
Now I totally get why the C, J and F parts are named that way… awesome.
It was confusing as all get out until I sussed out the meaning, and “BAM!” it all made sense. I apparently joined after the size naming party was over, or at least after the complaints about it died down…
That was exactly why I put a 611 on my MPCNC. Not just the control, but the speed holding. Set it to a speed and it stays there.
If I’d known about the pid speed control project, I’d have done what instead. I still haven’t looked for the actual instructions yet, but if it seems like a thing I could do, I still might because I’ve got my 660 in a box right now.
The PID project is pretty interesting, definitely following it, waiting until there is an actual solution.
In the mean time, iirc a $2 light dimmer will give you a lot of the same control that you have with the 611, so you can still use your 660.
Railcore. Core xy printer.
It’s ok for setting free air speed, and I did use a router speed control. Speed changed way too much once it started cutting, though.
The pid project appears to be complete, not much left to do but get the parts and put it together, apparently. I just haven’t looked at the documentation to see if it’s written for somebody at my (lack of) skill level.
Thats not the impression that I got from reading the topic, it seems very much in testing and design stages still. There doesn’t seem to be any documentation, just scattered bits of info in the forum (and V1 doesn’t sell the PCB with the kit it seems). I would love to know if/when this is usable solution!
Given the surgery needed to be done upon the DW660, I believe Ryan discontinued “official” development and support of the project. For warranty/liability issues. It’s also a non-trivial issue once you get down into the weeds.
Yea, the lawyers said selling a complete kit was a bad idea. It works, but you have to build it yourself.
I just follow this thread for the pics, but up to now I had to do a whole lot of reading. WTH!
