New Member, Soon to build one of my own MPCNC

Hello from the Denver area. I just met a few very kind folks there. I can’t remember their names, but I met the man himself, and another local person who showed me his Mostly Printed CNC.

That’s more than likely where I’ll start. I’m hoping i vac salvage some parts from my old 2020 Ender 3 Pro, and get started a little cheaper. I have another Prusa MK3S, so I can print my own parts.

I’ll start looking around and getting familiar with some things.

Here is a photo from RMRRF 2025. If this is yours, hello again. I’m sorry I forgot your name, and thanks for the explanation. I also forgot to take a picture of your chair Iwas sitting in, and that sweet alligator carving. They were both amazing.

Hello and welcome to the V1 community forums!

I’m looking forward to seeing your build progress and seeing the projects you will do with it.

There are a fair number of V1 builders along the Colorado front range, with me being one. We likely talked at the show as I was also there.

Let us know how we can help.

As Ryan and Jim have said already, welcome to the group and the forums.

We are, in fact, beginning to have a significant group of MPCNC/LR4 users and builders here in the Denver metro area.

In fact, there has been some discussion of some sort of a V1 CO meetup before the summer is over.

But, that aside, as Ryan confirmed, that Primo is the one that I brought. And, as a refresher, here are the chair, table and crocodile from the show.

There are a ton of resources here at the forum, and that should be your first stop for assistance. But, in general, if you wish to connect to discuss specifics about getting your project started, please send me a private message. I don’t have the knowledge of Ryan or the others, but I might be able to occasionally point you in the right direction if you get stuck.

Once again, welcome.
Dave

I also did the “salvage” approach to start with. Doing so is in my blood. But in this one instance I wish I hadn’t – my machine has subsequently been almost entirely ship of theseus’d with new parts as my salvaged ones weren’t quite right.

Not sure how much this applies to the MPCNC since I built a LowRider but the only originally salvaged parts I haven’t replaced with bought parts are the leadscrews, a couple idlers, and the X belt. Careful if you decide to salvage pulleys – make sure they’re 16 tooth - 3d printer ones tend to be 20 it seems. Similarly, 3D printer steppers didn’t cut it. You may also be able to reuse the control board if you don’t mind using Marlin, but having now used both for CNC, FluidNC and the Jackpot board are seriously nice.

All in all, I really wish I’d bought the kit from Ryan and been done with it! Would have saved a lot of time, and possibly even money, all in.

In any case, welcome to the forum and good luck with the build!
