New Lowrider 4 assembly Z- Direction

I have just printed and assembled my main LRv4 (remaining -table, and Y-axis parts).

So, before proceeding I hooked up the JP3 controller, and the corresponding wires.

Connection, wifi, internet, Z-homing, X-Homing all seem to work as explained in the docs.

I have noticed, however, Z+ moves down, and Z- moves up - is this correct?? Or have I missed something?

Also, because I dont have the y-axis pipe yet setup, the Z-homing Limit blocks on both sides seem to rotate slightly when I raise the Z up (by hitting Z (10 o 50) button accidentally. Is this also normal for the blocks to rotate- although I have them tightened.

Both these z-limit blocks seem to go out of alignment once the limit switch is hit.

no that’s incorrect. reverse z stepper wires.

i haven’t had any issues and mine broke off long ago.

Okay- you were right the stepper Z wire connectors were reversed.

The z-Homing still does not work. It goes beyond the limit switches. like what I mentioned, as a result the limit blocks go out of alignment.

Snug the screws up. You probably didn’t pull the nuts through completely.

They are as snug as they can be. Shouldn’t the z-limit switches stop the Z movement?

Oh yes, sorry, that’s the problem. This happens, for instance, if you swapped Y/Z or something like that regarding the endstops. Check that you really have them correctly mapped.

P-* - Y1 - Z1 - Z0 - Y0 - X

Great- it fixed the limit sw issue. X+ / X- directions and limit.

However, I still can go beyond the homing pos (X+) and things dont sound good.

by default, the machine should home to x min (x-). that’s the side of the core that the limit switch is mounted. if yours is unintentionally homing to x max, reverse that stepper cable.

there’s no hard limits on x max, so it can travel beyond its bounds unless soft limits are turned on. it does definitely sound terrible but i’ve heard that it sounds worse than it actually is.

Can someone pin point the cause of this annoying sound?

Did you lube the lead screws?

This just recently happened.

The two pipe for the X-Axis were not aligned correctly, as was the z-limit that get knocked out of its position.

Sound like it’s binding up. Remove the cross tensioner screws in the Z-stubs - they are not required and can cause binding problems
