New generation of laser cutters

I hope this is going to the right category, looking around kickstarter, I have seen xlaserlab sub $2K handheld laser welder and cutter. Xtool is gearing up for a kickstarter for a laser welder/ cutter with and without CNC. it would be really cool to see one of these adapted to the MPCNC. I dont have the cash to throw at this. I would love the rapid prototyping option…

anyone have experience with these?

Interesting. Do you know what type of laser/wavelength they are targeting?

We got introduced that in the “Neat!” thread. Then yesterday evening I actually showed it to my friend.

When they get out of kickstarter I would love to convert my plasma table to a laser table. 100% Keep an eye on it and I will put some R&D funds to it ASAP.

The issue I see here is if they really stick to the after kickstarter price of $6500, it is considerably less appealing. So buying it now for a great deal would be fun but much less so if it is 50% more after kickstarter. So my deciding factor is actually the after launch price.

Basicly I completely agree with you. Price point is an issue.

Thanks!

There’s not a single review online of their other non-Kickstarter machines

A google image search of their existing machines shows them being sold under another name already

The videos they use to demonstrate their x1 and x1 pro also seem to be reused from existing machines, not their own.

I remember now that you included the link. Looks pretty cool, as long as it’s not vaporware…

Seems like we could use a fiber laser’s guts to do something similar.

But would have to do some lens design since most fiber lasers have Galvo heads.
