New 18x24 build in Ohio

This build started as an unexpected Christmas gift, and turned out to be so much fun to research and build. It was nice to have such a wealth of information on the V1 site as well as this forum to help me along the way. Up to this point, I’ve always enjoyed minor woodworking projects, but over the past few years I’ve spent more time 3D printing and learning some basic CAD to support that hobby. As it turns out, this puts all those pieces together for me. Other than a little fooling around with a bad connection and a bit of a learning curve, I was happy with how easy it was to get this going.

Here are a few pics of my build:

I’m still working through some improvement ideas for the vacuum hose connection to the dust collection, but at the moment I’ve had good results on my first few projects.

After all the time I spent working on this, I thought it would be good to make my first project something the wife and family would appreciate. I decided to make some decorative 5"x5" scrabble wall tiles to put all of our names on the wall. Here’s a picture of them right before the poly coat. They really turned out amazing:

I ended up custom designing the rambo board box and a mount for my Makita RT0701. Both are posted on Thingiverse for anyone that might be interested. The posts also have a little more information about build details:

Thanks again for all the information and support!

So, why would anyone who wants a CNC under $500 not go with an MPCNC? Your build is a poster child!

And $500 is for getting it tricked out!
