Need advice on Power Supply for a laser module

Hello,

I’m planning to buy this laser module.

It’s a 5-watt laser module which, draws a 5 A current.

My current setup for MPCNC has 12 v 5 A, power adapter. (No router or anything else just 5 stepper motors. It works completely fine)

What power supply should I go for with the above-mentioned laser? Correct me if I’m wrong, should it be 12 v 10 A?

I have followed Ryan’s page on Laser

and also went through this post on the forum

Please, help me out here.

I could be totally wrong but I think the MPCNC only uses about 3 amps. So if you get and 8 amp or higher you should be ok.

Yup I…um…misplaced my power supply so at MRRF we ran all weekend on a cheapo 2.5A PS. I think 3A is only if you try to run a hotend, much less if you are just running the 3 axis and a LCD. I need to look into this to see if we can save some money on bundles with smaller PS.
