We havenât come that far in five years after all - I canât remember if this is posted above but itâs called Functrgraph from Meije University.
The neat thing for me is printing disposable tools - although reusable ones would be neater. The other strange thing is that a few tech reporters have discovered it and it seems to be trending as though itâs not from 2021!

Well letâs take some bets on price. Seems like a great idea, not sure why they limited the speed so much, I have to assume small geared motors/steppers. 30mm/s is good enough for cutting but slow for XY travels.
If they price this right they are going to sell a lot of those.
It just popped up on my feed now. It looks like itâs all 3D printed.
For now, I bet it gets injection molded.
I can see it needing a rounded lip to deal with plywood springing up and catching an edge. The rest seems okay. Canât see how the Z works, looks like a small lift area, but maybe that whole orange mount is larger under the surface.

The maslow 4 is similar but the belts are wrapped around the router on rotating wheels.

8 belts vs 4 has me intrigued. I wonder why.
I was just wondering about that. The way theyâre routed out to opposing corners makes me think it might be to do with resisting counter-rotation from the cutting or shop-vac connection etc.

Why does it bother me that they measure only one diagonal and not both? Both diagonals is overdetermined but it just feels wrong to measure only one.

Yeah that second one would let you know if you really really messed up.
Not surprised I guess, especially if they go off the price of the Shaper Origin.
Seeing the Gordix going for around $2k really makes me miss the Compass CNC that I preordered. The Compass was ~$600 in kit form.

Well I think we might have had some people waiting on the pricing of that because I had a pretty serious sales rush this morning so far, US and international. It looked like it was going to be low cost, but for that price I think there are better options, higher and lower.

I just got the email and saw the price as well. I was thinking it would be maybe $1,000, and as soon as I saw it I started wondering how many people held off on an LR4 and were now pulling the triggerâŚ
