Has this channel been posted yet?

I was a bit hesitant at first, since using descriptions like “overkill” or “over engineered” rarely fit the content on youtube. But I’d say it’s deserved in his case.

This looks like it’s going to be fun to watch.

That is a beast. I wonder what the price is going to be versus a used machine. I like the big builds!

Yeah, the controller alone was $900 so DIY doesn’t mean inexpensive in their case.

The term DIY has somehow lost its meaning by now. There’s a dude building an electronic microscope in his shed… Don’t remember his nick/handle. Even building your own CNC would seem insane to most people 10 years ago. I love it!!:grin:

He builds a huge machine and then takes a 160x80 gantry. Would have used at least 100, that does not matter much in price and size but adds a lot of stability.

Building it for the sake of building it is perfectly acceptable. Judging by his wiring cabinet and machine skills he enjoys the process.

I was talking about the Mordor guy, not the overkill guy. I am really impressed with his machine. ~6500€ spindle… Phew.

I had never heard of UV Lasers until 5 Minutes ago and now I want one…

$8000 with the full kit. Bargain deal… -_-

Does it cut clear acrylic?? Seems like it’s meant for engraving only…

Incredible.

That is slick, now you need a machine with a longer arm.

That’s super cool, I’ve seen a couple of DIY quilting machines like that and always thought it’d be neat to have one that was independently driven and electronically synchronized so you could make it as large as you can align the needle/throat plate opening.

For doing freehand decorative stuff it could even potentially be something entirely magnetically aligned and ‘loose’. Make it something that can driven itself around a piece of cloth, etc. Really feels like an area that hasn’t kept pace with modern technology, especially when looking at the prices of things that are basically a normal sewing machine with an extremely rudimentary 2D CNC attachment.
