Neat!

It’s an interesting idea though I don’t know why ordinary chalk wouldn’t have been better.

I’ve never heard of http://jscut.org/ either though so that’s cool.

I remember watching the original, I guess 4 years ago. Bonkers idea, and even more bonkers to build it all over again. Guy is brilliant, and yeah, I want one too.

But…I should probably finish the wiring on my Primo first.

I keep telling myself I need to stop adding projects. So I spent the weekend setting up some TurnkeyLinux containers on Proxmox on an old Intel NUC in preparation for either building or buying a NAS/Homeserver.

That’s cool!

When I was a kid, my room was the only thing I could control. So I would occasionally rearrange the furniture just to have something I was in charge of. I didn’t care if it was optimal. I just wanted something different.

If I could change a bench into a desk or bookshelf. i would have loved that.

Now that I have control of (and have to maintain) my whole house, I doubt I would want this system. But it sure seems like fun.

Going to try some of this stuff

Seems neat, I will see what my kiddo comes up with for projects.

My wife’s desk goes together kind of like that.

700W laser welder. He shows it doing an ok job with 10mm mild steel, a pretty remarkable job with sheet metals, cuts some 6mm mild steel really well and does some laser cleaning/rust removal.

US$1.9k for the smaller version, US$2.7k for the gruntier pro version from the video.

Iiiiiiiinteresting…

Okay, so I can ditch my plasma cutter and tigwelder. Repurpose my water table and get rid of all the stuff needed for linuxcnc and the THC. I am currently limited to about 10mm steel, I can be just fine with 6mm.
WOW, that is extremely tempting. I am not excited about kickstarter but shoot that looks to be very versatile.

Tig on aluminum takes a ton of prep, watching him slap together two dirty raw pieces was pretty amazing.

dang, you got some stufffff!!!

That is super rad! Also I’d never seen this channel before but he has some cool stuff!

I had TIG welding on my list of things to learn so I could goof around with aluminum but why do that when I could get a friggin laser???

I just got it as a random recommendation, I’ve not checked out any of his other stuff but he seems pretty straightforward.

Yeah, I hear you for sure. I was looking for a TIG/plasma setup a few months back. This looks like it’s much lighter duty at only 700W input power but so much cleaner/easier and more CNCable that it’d be a worthwhile consideration.

I don’t think their ‘50% discount for kickstarter backers’ is anything other than marketing, I’d guess it’ll end up retailing at near their max kickstarter price so I’d be happy enough waiting and seeing.

Tig welding aluminum is so much fun!! I need to get a smaller one my big old girl hums great and will work forever but the power bill gets a bit high. There is a product we use called aluma prep
It’s basically an etch that eats the oxide off. It’s what we use before we conversion coat the aluminum. But it works good as a prep for welding and also polishing. It’s similar to what the truckers use on their wheels and fuel tanks.
One good thing about a welder with an eye ontop for lifting is no one asks to borrow it tho.

The new inverter style machines make it a heck of a lot easier with the cleaning and pulse control. My old solid state guy is fixed at 60hz but she can weld up a tank at 370 amps 60% duty.
Oh and “bar keepers friend” that’s a good cleaner as well.

I really want someone who is smarter than me to make a diy edm machine maybe have it on a lr4 that would be wild.

The entire video is pretty good if you like watching refurbishing stuff. But the part I copied the video to start at was really neat. I never knew a software like that existed and it seemed to work really well for his particular use case.

heh, I just watched that yesterday

Also, that’s a good saw. Used to have one, now my dad has it.
