Neat!

Cool. Lost me at “$90 device’ though

Yeah. At some point, an old phone with the webui is a better choice.

I have not looked lately but refurb amazon tablets are cheap too!

That’s what I use in my garage. Fire tablet 10" that I think I paid 60-70 for. But then spent another 30 or so on a bluetooth keyboard for it. Makes for a nice deal though.

I looked for one on ebay and they are $225ish. Nope.

The dial and physical buttons are cool.

I picked up a cheapish 10" tablet on an Amazon Prime day. It’s turned out to be a really well built tablet. It’s made by Teclast and I think it was around $100.

Y’all just need garage laptops.

What an extraordinary amount of work! It’s just a fabulous thing!

Cool idea. Seems like it would benefit from being in a more updatable/live format than just a pdf. Being able to look through and filter by tools/techniques/categories would be awesome.

Like furniture that only needs a laser cutter, toys that only require 3D printing with no electronics work, that kinda thing.

I wish it was hardcover, woth QR codes for links.

Maybe I should just put it on a tablet though.

If each item had a qr-code the pages could be printed on thick paper and put in a nice binder. I wonder what it would take for them to add the qr. Perhaps we could help out?

I print things like camera manuals using blurb.com - it’s not difficult to convert a PDF, they even have a direct PDF to print service (if you have pages sized to suit - but there are workarounds for that even)

The QR codes are just another job I guess - helping out would be a nice thing we could do as a group? Not sure how to go about it, but it’s a huge resource he’s compiled.

Here’s another rabbit hole for some of you - if you have not seen mymechanic’s restoration of tools, lanterns and who know’s what, you are missing a treat.

This is from his second channel, but do check out the main one as well.

It was not easy finding contact info, their webshop had a form. I’ve sent a message telling him/her that we’d love to help out adding qr codes. Let see, he/they seem quite elusive. I really like the NODE content!

I heard back from Cris at NODE. He spent two years on the book, so he doesn’t feel like spending more time on it. Should we try adding QR codes? If someone could write a script to autogenerate the codes, that would save us a lot of time…
Let me see what all might GPT can do for us…

There’s my telescope!
