So it appears that Thingiverse was sold!
Wow, that is interesting. I wonder how that is going to play out for us users. I have not used myminifactory.
I haven’t either. But also I cant remember the last time I used Thingiverse…
I got tired I f the pop ups soooo long ago. Hopeful that those will be gone!
Quite an unusual mariage…
MMF is mostly specialized in high quality, paid, resin models
Most of the catalog is mini figurines
Thingiverse has always been an essentially free FDM models ressource
Wonder what they’ll come up with, but if it’s “paid FDM models “ i can guarantee it will fail -_-
A loooong time ago I had a collection of files on Thingiverse and I was PM’d by myminifactory offering automated import onto their site. I used to browse it a fair bit but I found the layout too busy/chaotic and they push paid content and I feel make it more difficult to find free stuff. I haven’t used it in quite a while though.
I use thangs and it will search several others so i can get models off makerworld, printables, thingiverse, yeggi, thangs in one search.
I have used that a few times when I couldn’t find what I wanted on the main 2 I use. The most recent time I tried it, I could only get it to search actual thangs. It wouldn’t give me models from anywhere else. No idea what I was doing wrong.
You have to select “everything” to the left of the search text and it now defaults to thangs only. It wasnt always like that
Yeah I saw that. Still didn’t change it. And I used the same search words that gave me results on the other 2 sites so it should have pulled the same results from them but still only got what was posted on thangs and it was only one or 2 models. I’m sure it was just me not holding my mouth right ![]()

Well, I guess eventually Thingiverse will have changed hands more than some NFL teams that get sold off occasionally. It was, for a long time, ignored and not well maintained. Hopefully it will get better treatment now.
Thangs has apparently sunset everything search - this is the best source I can find:
Yeggi still searches everything I think.
