I am open to suggestions for z axis. I hope to just reuse something already out there. I have been browsing prusaprinter.org and thingiverse. I haven’t made any decisions yet.

For light loads, such as a laser or pen, I’m very happy with this printed, BB-bearing, Z-axis…

I’ve used it on a couple of laser engravers… the most recent being a rolling-gantry miniFoamRipper…

LowRider-inspired Foam Ripper

Finally convinced that a belt-driven Z-axis wasn’t a good Idea because it didn’t hold its Z-position – and thus laser focus – firmly enough while positioning the toolhead… I’ve simplified the X-carriage plate and mounted the new BB-bearing, printed screw-driven, V1 stepper-slider. That, in turn, carries the Eleksmaker 2.5W laser module and danowar’s laser air-assist shroud that I’ve used with this laser module on several machines in the past. I’ve built a couple of CoreXY laser machines in the past… and really like what you’ve presented here. I think it would be great fun to build another one.
