My Logo and size letters on the part files. Feedback

I am working on some new parts and looking for honest feedback here.

I used to absolutely hate when people put logos and stuff on the printed parts. I mean I remember talking crap about it. Then somehow I ended up doing it (at first it was for DMCA, then I started to like it). So I am looking for some honest feedback.

Do I go overboard with the logos, or is it fairly subtle? I try not to make it toooooo in your face, but I do like them, it is 99% trademarked at this point so all parts will include them, but I do have the option of hiding them a bit more like I did on a few of the LR parts.

Go nuts with them. People so often put extra marks here and there even when they don’t have to. It’s not a watermark like those stock photos, it’s a badge of honor.

I love it it is yours and be proud of it don’t hide it just the shipping boxes make me cry to throw them away but not in a Amazon way maybe some day people will say the goes another V1 package I can see your logo on both of my MPCNC’S . It’s not like made for Walmart that the hide everywhere we are proud to show the creator of our machines

I think you are tasteful in your logo application. I am even thinking about adding a Bensbites stamp to my shipping boxes like you do.

I see no need for you to dial it back.

Awesome! I will try to keep the same amount of “branding”, there but not in your face.

You have taken the time to do the engineering work on each piece. Logo it up!

The logo looks good and there is nothing wring with slapping it on your stuff. Keep adding to your own taste

I don’t mind a logo on each part, whether it shows or not.

I don’t care for parts that have the logo plastered all over it like wall-paper.

Honestly, if there’s too much, I’ll just throw it into meshmixer and flatten the face anyways

I like finding it on each part . If you want to over plan, then on one or two prominent faces from each direction, put a larger logo that we can see. So after the thing is assembled, there will basically be 1-3 logos visible on the machine. Bonus points if only one is visible from each direction.

The rambo case with the wallpaper of logos is neat, but I wouldn’t do that on more than one part.

And, don’t make it a requirement on any mating surface. Of course, people want to edit the parts and experiment themselves. Adding a proprietary mating surface would be annoying.

Logos are there to be recognized easily by consumers. This has the added benefit of IP protection too.

In the case of V1 and the MPCNC, the only system I have worked with, the logos printed in the same color filament blend right in. For that reason, I don’t mind them at all.

So far I have a large one facing the back of the machine on the center, so most will not see it after it’s built. Except the savages that build them facing the other way. The Rollers are kinda shaped like the roller but will have “hidden” logo’s. Thinking about the feet and corners probably keep then as is Logo on the feet can be turned away if you do not want to see it nothing visible on the corner, except maybe some style more than previously…we’ll see.

I was worried that might even be to much for me that is why I included a boring version as well. Sounds like I am on the right track in my current placements.

I guess I’m in the minority but I feel like less is more. I appreciate subtlety… But I’m also the guy that makes the car dealership remove the dealership stickers and license plate frames from my car before I drive it off the lot and refuses to wear boldly branded shirts and hats, won’t let roofers/lawn guys/etc post signs in my yard, etc… I’m not paying to be a billboard!

That said you have done really well and have an asthetically pleasing style and logo, and it’s free to download so don’t mind it so much.

I am typically of the same mindset. I wear my own branded clothing (have made printed and embroidered clothes since 98or so) or blank…carhartt has minimal labels and is awesome…adidas shell toes is about as logo as I get.

So do my current Burly parts over state my logo to you? Small on the back of the large XY parts and on the feet that can be rotated to not see them?

Do I offer the free parts plastered in my logo and the parts bought from me free of all visible branding?

I think it’s fine the way it is. They’re generally small and unobtrusive and don’t measurably affect print time or part strength.

[/quote] I wouldn’t go that far. You want to maintain MORE sets of versions of parts?! Don’t get me wrong, you have every right to put your mark on your work. If it were me I would probably find one distinctive and visible place on the machine to tastefully put my logo/“signature” and not necessarily stamp every part. But that’s just my personal style (of which my wife would argue I have none) and not a criticism of your style.

You’ve managed to engineer these machines into works of art. With your distinctive style I feel like I can spot a v1 designed part a mile away even without a logo.

Having not printed any of the available parts yet, excuse me if the following are already present.

Do revisions come around frequently enough for a version number on the part to be useful? Thinking of the “R4” embedded in the Prusa extruder parts as an example.

Or possibly an imprint indicator for the proper conduit or tubing size?

Logo those bad boys up!

I learned a while ago, before the trademark even that this logo on each part makes quick work of leeches that try and sell my parts and files. So typically they all have a logo, usually not in the line of sight (the toolmount has the largest logo but I doubt many even remeber it).

The tubing size is stamped on every part that is size specific. I try to get this in a place that is visible while assembled but not distracting. That makes it easy to sort out funky build issues. You will see a small “C,J, F” on most all parts 23.5, 25, 25.4mm.
Versions are typically extremely distinct (early versions, 525, burly, the new one), if there ever is a minor revision I typically catch it quick enough to just rename the file “V2” or leave some visual indicator so I can tell if someone is using an old part. An example of this would be something like the Y plates for the LR, the 25mm version has added chamfers so I can tell quickly what size they are without asking people to engrave the size in them.

Wow, thank you…I am typically a form over function dude but I do try to make things with some flavor…hope you like the new stuff…one even has a decoration I call funky or fancy in the CAD tree…
