Hi all!
I’m starting building my MPCNC Primo, I was looking at spindle options…
Here in Italy we don’t have the DeWalt 660, so I’m looking for something else.
Spindle like Kress/AMB are very good but the price is very high…
do you have any other alternatives? also “chinese” solutions…
Thank all!
Is the makita available? I know it is available in England.
Thank you very much! I think I can find the Makita router, which spindle are you using?
I will be using a Dewalt 660, but Im In the US. I have a friend in England that brought the Makita and is very happy with it
It is a very popular router for cnc machines… there are mounts for the mpcnc already designed and mounts for it for other machines as well( in case you decide to build or use a different machine)
Thank you! Here in Italy I am able to find the Makita router for about 120€. I have also seen the Katsu clone which costs about 50€ but I don’t think that the quality is good as the Makita
KATSU Rifilatore Fresatrice Verticale per Legno Elettrica 220V 710W + 3 Pinze da 6mm, 8mm e 10mm: Amazon.it: Fai da te
In any case 710W are enough to do wood and allumium milling? These machines also weigh less than a 800W 3 phase spindle…
Way more than you need.
Perfect!! Maybe it’s a stupid question, I have a lot of 3mm shaft mill from my old cnc, do you know if Makita makes some small collets? Like the ER11 collet for other Spindle…
I do not, but I do know collets are really cheap on Amazon
What do you think about that spindle? I’m looking for some options to make a choice…
The only issue I see with it is that its 48vdc… so you will need a power supply that can provide 16A at 48v.
Thank you again @Atom! I’ve also found a Kress 530FM brand new for about 120€. It doesn’t have built in speed control, but as it is powered by an univeral motor it won’t be difficult to control the speed using a PWM signal and a little electronic board.
Kress brand is known to be a very good choice for spindle… I don’t know what to do
Go with the kress, you won’t regret it.
I haven’t used either(or any other spindle for that matter) so I can’t be much help.
I’m sure it will get dirty no matter what you choose
I’m in US and I still opted for Makita. It’s more versatile and powerful in my opinion. You can take it out and use it like a handheld router if you like. Or attach it to primo for CNC. Lightweight and works perfectly well.
