MPCNC inspired design.

I found MPCNC a few weeks back and was inspired by it and several videos on the website. As I’m stuck in bed with a back problem I decided to fight my boredom with some mental exercise and redesigned to MPCNC to a more “normal” cnc.

I came up with this. I attached 2 pictures. Tubes are 26,9mm as I can get a lot of standard couplings for these tubes to easily build also the table on which the cnc can be put.

Some ideas I got from others using MPCNC are the dual belt drive and I one dust shoe gave me the idea of an integrated dust suction.

I designed it to mount a Kress 1050. The tool mount can also fit a 33 x 33 mm laser module and other tools can be mounted with small adapters. I still need to draw one for:
3d print hotend
pen
needle cutter
drag knife

I hope you like it. Sadly I’m unable to build this at the moment and I also do not have the room at the moment.

You modeled the gt bells? Extra fancy! I like the idea of the traditional gantry like that, but isn’t the weight all on one side going to be twisting the gantry more than the MPCNC cross? What is the flat bar in the back? Angle for cable management? I would definitely make the tool mount compatible with the mpcnc tools. Since the 525 version, Ryan has kept the same interface there (AFAIK) which makes 3rd party tool mounts more useful, even across pipe sizes. Maybe instead of all those specific mounts, you can make an adapter to thempcnc mount? Is the 26.9mm a specific size (1" conduit or something?). The parts seem a bit large for printing. Do you have a 3D printer?

That’s as much as I can find to talk about it, except to say that it’s very original and has potential. It’s too bad about your back. I’m sure you’ll be kicking up dust when you can. In the meantime, it’s nice to have skills like you’ve got to be able to keep making, even digitally. It looks like you’ve worked hard on it and I hope you get to try it out soon enough.

Thanks for sharing.
