So this is a bit out there in left field, but it is the time of year for the pest of the miller moth here where I live, Colorado area. The miller moths are taking over my shop with the windows packed with them and just making a nuance and mess everywhere. Any ideas how I can get rid of them?
I have found that a bucket of water with a light over it does a fair job of getting some each night, but it is a drop in the bucket compared to the numbers in my shop. Wonder if others have dealt with this and what, if anything, you found that helped with the problem?
I will tweak what I have setup. Current water container isn’t white and I can see how that would make it all brighter. Thanks for the tips I will adjust and see what I can do to cut the swarm.
I did a similar thing recently for box elder bugs in our basement. I used a clear salad box (from the recycling bin, but just a clear box a little bigger than a shoebox). I put a piece of white paper underneath. The soap really helps them drown (macabre as that is, it’s the point). I was getting about a hundred a night and it took a couple weeks to get rid of them all.
My current setup pulls maybe 75ish each day. Lets see how it goes in regards to clean up. Soap has helped with the numbers.
lol, I wish it was this easy. We have a barn at the edge of our property out away from the rest of the buildings. Next few weeks you won’t be able to go into the side door with out being attacked with thousands of the stupid things. You have to open the door, stand aside for the flood and then go in.
