Did you know there are some people walking around right now that have never seen Star Wars? It’s true, I’ve met some of them. I even work with some of them. I mean it’s not for me to tell anyone how to live their life… but that ain’t right ![]()
To make sure it doesn’t happen to my kids we’ve been having movie nights. And for the full experience you need snacks. I can’t remember when or why I came across this idea for a snack tray - but I thought the kids would think it was fun:
The first one I cut (top of the picture) was in foam core so I could properly visualise the size. More than once I’ve thought an offcut was big enough only to find it was juuuust a bit too small. The real thing is inch thick MDF using a bowl bit with 8mm radius for the dishes and then swapping to a regular 1/8 straight flute bit for the cockpit and cutting out.
Top tip - when you’re cutting an]t maximum depth make sure you consider the dust shoe or it may get caught and’ lol take a chunk out of the back of your work. I’ve left as a reminder of my dumbness.
The downside to using MDF was all the cut surfaces were now hairy. I flattened them as much as I could before painting but the whole thing just sucked up paint like a sponge. It makes me d]wonder iif you could burnish the cut surfaces with something?
