i already own a Makita DRT50Z (or whatever the battery powered version of the RT0700C is called) and want to use it on my MPCNC. Anyone knows a mount that fits the Router and Battery?
Or even better…
Anyone has ever seen a diy Battery extension cable to get the Battery weight off the Z-Axis?
Or the optimal solution…
Anyone has ever seen an AC Power supply mod to drive the 18V Makita Tools?
That’s awesome. I wish they didn’t work so hard on the little electronics inside the battery. Maybe you can get a busted battery or nearly dead one off of ebay?
Thats a pretty decent start and not very far off from what i had imagined. Thx a lot.
Using an old battery as interface kinda contradicts the purpose of the entire operation (reducing tool footprint to make it fit closer to the z axis and get some weight off in the process) but i already found a part that solves that and basically just provides a tool-side breakout where i can run the needed voltages to.
Problem with the entire thing however is the pricetag of the power supply (around 300€ for a brand name and in those amp ranges brand names can save lives). A china spindle or a kress would be the more cost efficient upgrade.
That however changes i you want to run all you makita tools off that thing.
So for now i will just continue working on the battery extension cord solution. Maybe in the end i can run the entire machine from 2-3 5Ah packs. To machine parts for my picknic chair. In the park. During the actual picknic.
Do you have a link? Would that be strong enough to mount the tool on the wall? I have these kinds of tools and I would love to just hook them onto the wall to keep them out of the way.
If it will hold the tool depends entirely on the tool, infill settings and weight distribution. It will hold the router, a drill maybe, an angle grinder most likely not. It is a pretty tight fit out of the box (which is perfect in my case), so maybe print it a little undersized. I guess you have to just try it.
