main board options

I was wondering what options exist for the main board outside of the rambo board sold here, since you can get the hardware kit minus the board for about $120 cheaper.

Mainly i am wondering if one of the 2 i have might work, i have a spare main board for a tevo tarantula and a tevo tornado, in 12v and 24v respectively, both are MKS Base V1.4 Mega 2560 R3 Motherboard RepRap Ramps 1.4 Compatible.

If these wont work, i have no problem paying for the real deal, i just wanted to see if parts on hand would work, and save money in the process, then at a later date upgrade to a rambo and dual endstops

My goal is to build a aluminum mill / wood carving/engraving machine

Have a look at the specs, controls, or firmware pages. You can use just about any board you want.

I’m in the same boat as you with a spare MKS Base board removed from my Tornado. What did you decide in the end? Are you using the MKS board? I also have the option to buy a cheap mini Rambo but if the MKS board can be recycled, all the better.
