LR4 z travel issue

hello everyone. im in the process of re squaring after installing my permanent strut plates. for some reason my machine wont travel for enough on the z0 screw. it gets about 3mm from the surface and gets stuck. just starts clicking and i have to reset. it doesnt look like there is anything physically blocking the path of travel. all i can think is that there might be a miss alignment between the lead screw and the nut so that at the bottom of stroke the screw is binding. is this something any else has experienced? i can include pictures or a video if needed but figured id get the question out there first.

Pictures and/or video would be helpful.

I haven’t seen any reports of this on the LR4.

Did you lube your leadscrew? If not, try this first.

I would then check for any binding related to the leadscrew as well as checking that the linear rails are parallel.

You may need to disconnect the YZ from the beam again and make sure both sides can travel the full motion of the rails with no resistance

Without having seen it, I‘d guess that you either tightened down the Z-Stub with the Nut with the M5 screw or the part that is screwed to the aluminium plates is slightly tilted to the front or back.

i think i figured out what was going on. i think the router had somehow slid up away from the work surface. probably when i installed the vacuum attachment which happened at the same time i installed my permanent strut plates. this is the first time I’ve tried squaring things since i did that. regardless i took apart the y0 side and inspected things so its possible in that process that i inadvertently fixed one of the other problems mentioned above. on disassembly i didn’t find anything that was clearly a problem though, so who knows. either way i was able to get everything square and level.

i appreciate the help. I’m trying to get a test cut done tonight so ill post some stuff once i get a cut going.
