This is, in principle, such a simple question that I hesitate to ask it. And, it’s possible that the answer is someplace in the LR4 build instructions and I’ve overlooked it. But, rather than speculate, I figure the answer is so simple that asking it once, here, may add clarification for someone else.
The question is this: What is the proper relationship between the x-rail length and actual strut plate length?
It appears from the calculators that you want the x-rail length to be very slightly longer than the strut plate, may 0.5mm. However, in some of the photos, it appears that the x-rail stops short of the outside edge of the end clamp, which might suggest that the rail is shorter than the strut plate.
(I have not yet started building the rail assembly yet, but HAVE cut the strut plate, so I’ll soon need to cut the x-rail.)
Can someone please clarify what we need for this?
