Heck yeah!
Congratulations on getting up and running. What a great feeling.
Getting strut plates made is by far the largest hurdle. so much easier from here on out.
Congratulations!
Some nice progress there Lurch…
I’ve decided to scrape my folding table as a full sheet build table would be hitting the ceiling when folded vertically… My plan now is to hoist it up on cables with a boat winch so it sits horizontally. I plan to weld the table frame from 1.5” square tube.
Toyed with that idea too for the same reason! In the end I figured that the need for a full sheet would only be occasional, but need need for portability and storage would be constant - so designing the mobile base at the moment……… FreeCAD is taking some time to get to grips with!
Keen to see what you come up with
So have installed Struts and dialled the machine in again - still can’t quite believe the accuracy you can get across the range of the table from some printed parts and items from the local hardware store! I love this machine!!
Now starting to get to grips with the controls side of things - if you’re like me and have no idea what yaml file is (or where to find it!) - then this video may help (https://youtu.be/RSuW-UMqJsY?si=cj0c0-UicWFyPnh1).
I can see a Fluidtouch coming in the near future - lugging an old laptop round is wearing thin and if I zoom out far enough on the WebUI so that I can see the GCode terminal (and prompts to attach probe/change tool) without scrolling, then it’s too small to read….
EstlCAM is also fairly intuitive, but have a query in terms of reviewing the operations - Having entered the operations I see you can edit machining order and also watch a simulation. Is there someway of viewing a table showing order of operations with the respective parameters shown and the ability to edit within the table - eg review and adjust depths of pockets? It may be there already?
In the meantime I’ll continue to have fun playing with it all! Pretty basic stuff, but very satisfying to watch an accurate grid being engraved into the spoilboard…..
Yes and no. When you export the program it should show you the preview of the toolpaths as well as a list on the top left which tool it uses when and in which order, but that‘s about it. ![]()
great idea with the dartboard, going to pinch that one
