LR4: Seating the rear wheel nuts

I’ve been having a lot of fun working through this build and appreciate all the design cues Ryan has built into the LR4 printed parts. But I’m stuck on the back wheel assembly for both y-z plate assemblies.

I can’t get the nuts into their pocket far enough to line up with the screws. This is the step: https://docs.v1e.com/img/lr4/yzw8a.jpg

I’ve oriented the screw according to the pocket orientation and every other way I can think of. The nut is just not seating into the pocket deep enough. At first I thought I had a nut-to-screw perpendicularity problem, so I tried using a couple toothpicks to push the screw to the ‘top’ of the pocket. No dice. Whatever I do the screw hits the nut edge that is furthest into the pocket.

Any suggestions would be welcome here.

Push hard with a screwdriver.

heat the nut op to 150 deg. then push it downwards

LOL  That’s how the nut was seated that far.

That did the trick! Thank you. That was just enough heat to overcome the flash or whatever prevented full seating. I was hesitant to pull out the Dremel or drill given the fact that the parts were made to close tolerances. My assumption is that this is to decrease play as much as possible.

That’s an interesting way to quote. :stuck_out_tongue:

Glad you got it though.

Yeah, still getting the hang of the forum tools. Thanks again for the suggestion.
