LR4 lower X rail touching metal XZ plate

Hey all, working on a build and ran into the first issue that’s got me stumped: In the instructions, it says “Double check that the lower X rail is not touching either metal XZ plate. If it touches your machine will most likely have driving or lifting issues.”

Can someone explain what’s going on here? Why is this a problem? For a 4x8 cutting surface, X rails calculated to be 54-5/8". Should I have just cut these slightly smaller like 54-1/2" instead?

This is what mine looks like. Just trying to confirm I need to take the bottom x rail off and cut before I proceed. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.

It depends on how well you measured and cut your EMT.

The tubes should be the same length.

The tubes should sit a mm or two inside the braces, if not you will have problems with your machine.

Depending on what you cut, you could spread the braces on either side out a bit so the tubes are spaced a mm or two inset.

Use that to assemble the machine and cut strut plates.

Then, when you’ve cut your permanent strut plates, you should again make sure the tubes sit inset a bit. If not, then at that point you have to cut them.
