LR4 jackpot power supply?

Hi Guys,

I bought the LR4 power supply via the v1e lr4 instructions site that is supposed to power the jackpot board.

The problem is that the power supply has a bullet style end, but the jackpot board wants a usb micro like this:

Here is a pic of the jackpot power port on the jackpot…

Did I buy the wrong power supply?

Thank you!!!

That’s not the power for a Jackpot board.
Your picture shows a Jackpot V1, so input power to the board is on the connector as shown below:

My suggestion is to cut off the bullet, strip the wires, and install ferrules.
Then put the ferrules into the VMOT + and VMOT - leads.

Ok I honestly do not know why I bought this power supply or what it is for.

First of all thank you. Seriously thank you and everyone who continues to help. I’d be TOAST otherwise.

I bought it from this list, highlighted in the pic below: also here is the link. what could this be for? Sorry coming back from months of stagnation and life’s hurdles: Amazon.com : 24V 2.5A Power Supply - COOLM AC DC 24V 2.5A Power Adapter AC/DC 60W Transformers Cord 5.5 x 2.5mm DC Plug Jack Connector 2.4A Compatible with 24Volt 0-2.5 Amp / 0-2500mA : Electronics

my jackpot clearly wants a mini USB or something like it. I don’t get it.

As @MakerJim stated, the USB port on the Jackpot is NOT for powering the board. You need to cut the barrel connector off of the end of the wire and hook the positive and negative up like Jim showed in the pics.

You’re confusing the ESP32 USB input with the Jackpot power input. The power supply is the correct one, but you need to cut off the “barrel” and wire it to the connection show above. That power input will provide power to the Jackpot and the ESP32. You do not need to plug into the Micro-USB during normal operation of the CNC.

The power supply you bought outputs 12 or 24 volts and the UBS is only 5 volts. The CNC will not operate if just a USB is plugged in. The steppers and other functions need more that the 5 volts from the USB. The programming of the ESP32 can be done with just the USB, but that is only the normal purpose for it.

Ok I understand now, cut off the barrel to expose the + and - and then hard wire. Thanks!

Understood Mike, thank you!

Not to add confusion to the mix..but important to note:

The USB plug does give the Jackpot 5v power so that you can load config files on the onboard flash memory of the ESP32.

>>>BUT<<<

this is only to install config files or to install a new FluidNC build etc.

IT WILL NOT POWER THE STEPPER DRIVERS!

also you want to START the Jackpot on 12-24 volt power BEFORE you use a USB Cable to run jobs: IE if you wanted to run jobs from a computer using the USB cable.

Again

USB > 5V = Power to ESP 32 ONLY

V (in) > 12-24 volts = Power to both the ESP 32 & the Jackpot + CNC

To load config files and FluidNC … ONLY have the usb 5v on do not have the 12-24v v (in) on.
