LR4 Core wires snagging

Building a LR4, and got to the steps about running the core wires to the controller. Long story short, testing the core motion results in the wires doing all sorts of crazy movement. They’ll jump over the front of the rail and get in the way of the core, they’ll wrap around the hose hooks, fall down in between the braces, etc.

I started without any wrap, and that was a TOTAL disaster. I went out today and bought a 1/2" ID “Split Loom Flex Guard” and fed the wires into that.

That helps some, but it still goes ALL OVER. I’m not sure if I’ve done something terribly wrong, or missed some sort of critical bit of wisdom or what. Anyone else had an issue like this? Any advice on how to handle it?

A drag chain may be the answer you are looking for. The holes along the top of the LR4 core are meant to halp.

If you use a dust collection hose they can be strapped to that as well.

Do you have your dust hose installed? I use that as a “drag chain” and it helps very much keep the wires in check. It takes some playing with it to get it all to lay right, but once its right its good to go.

Haven’t installed the dust hose yet, but I’ll do that tomorrow and see how it goes. Thanks!!

I would suggest bundling all of your wires together with electrical tape or plastic tie-wraps… That adds some stiffness, and you don’t have a bunch of individual wires going in all directions. Instead you have a single bundle going in one direction (although not necessarily the desired direction)

I have an aluminium channel as a guide and a drag chain, it works a lot better for me.

Added the vacuum hose and used it as a guide… MUCH better! Thanks for the help!
