LR4 Blackout Edition

I’m about 90% done with my build. I’ve created what I call the “The Blackout Edition.” I’ve blacked out everything except the XZ plates. I will cut some new plates once I get the machine up and running. I didn’t want to take a chance damaging the plates by anodizing these. Some of the nuts and bolts were painted others were swapped out for black zinc coated ones. Special thanks goes out to @spsully2582 and @dougjoseph for helping and guiding me through the journey. Thanks Guys.

I’ll post some videos once I get her up and running. One of the last things I’m looking for is 2 1/2” black dust collector hose. Does anyone have any suggestions on where to buy some?

Nice looking build. Looking forward to seeing what you do with your machine.

Sharp looking rig! Looking forward to what you will make with this machine!

Awesome job on your table! And I like the blacked-out scheme.

Thank you. I wanted to do something different!

Your build looks great! Are you going for black strut plates?

Thank you. Yes I’m going to cut some new plates once I get the machine going. I didn’t want to alter the original plates by anodizing them or powder coating them.

The strut plates and the XZ plates are not the same, the strut plates are usually done in 6mm mdf and span across the beam.

Black XZ plates would look great I think.

Yes, I am going to cut both out of aluminum and anodize them black. I wish I could find the Z shaft in black as well.

Alumiblack … i think that’s what is called. You rub it on aluminum and it turns black. Gunsmith toes use it

Bluing, it is a controlled rust believe it or not!

Yes I did see that and it is controlled rust, that’s why I was thinking anodized or powder coating. I’m not sure about the long term effects of blueing.
