I have a freshly built LR4 using the jackpot, pre-flashed from V1. Today I’m testing out the wiring. After flipping around a couple of the motors wires, around everything seems to be working except when I try to home Z. It starts to move but then stops. When I look at the debug I see the error message:
ALARM:8
Homing fail. Pull off travel failed to clear limit switch. Try increasing pull-off setting or check wiring.
Any thoughts on what might be wrong or what I should try to change? All of the endstops lights are lit up on the board except for the probe (which I haven’t tested at all yet since I wanted to get my Z homing to work first.
I flipped around one of my x limit switch and the light still stays on. I do think i figured out my problem though. Looking closer at the limit switch lights, I found that my z1 does not light up, triggered or not, so I’m sure that is my problem.
You can also test the firmware by running “$Limits” in the terminal windows of the WebUI, this will show a real time trigger display. “!” to exit that mode.
The normal homing sequence when one of the z’s is already triggered is to move down slightly to clear the switch. If you are triggered (loose wire etc) and it doesn’t see the switch clear it stops and throws a code. If you home, see a 10mm drop and stop, it’s an end stop. I have a connector that isn’t always tight so I’m very accustomed to seeing it happen. But the 1st time took some head scratching to figure out. The X and Y do the same, move away from the triggered switch and then home to set 0.
