LR3 vs LR4?

Hi all, many year LR2, and as of last year, LR3 owner here. I haven’t been up on the V1e news for the last year (had twins, life has been crazy), and came today to print some new router mounts for my LR3 as mine snapped during my last cut, only to see there’s an LR4 now!

Since the LR4 has been out for awhile now, would anyone be able to guide me to a place where I could read about the improvements from the LR3 to LR4? Are we talking general rigidity and accuracy improvements, or was there a flaw in the LR3 that should make me consider doing the upgrade? I’ve only got about 9 hours of cutting time on mine so far in the last year (I blame the new babies) but am wondering why there was an upgrade. I’ve looked and can’t find a dedicated “here’s what the LR4 offers that the LR3 didn’t” post.

TIA!

Hey there, the LR4 is much more rigid than the 3, utilizing 32mm pipes, the core has also been redesigned and is now more “square” and not a triangle any more, giving it more rigidity as well. There are many additional little changes that make it so much easier to assemble (captured nuts except 4) and nicer looking (hidden cables). It also looks better. :stuck_out_tongue:
There is no need to upgrade though if you haven’t hit the limits of the LR3 yet, though the upgrade kit is really, really cheap.
