I have been waiting to start a post until I was farther along with the build and that came today. I received a package from SentCutSend today containing these…
I went ahead and had them cut from 6mm ACM. Basically ACM is a plastic core clad on both sides with aluminum. It is easy to work with and pretty stiff. I was going to buy the material and cut them myself but did not want to take the machine apart (lazy I guess). Plus to maximize the shipping returns I had to buy enough that the material alone cost more than this whole order.
Some may have seen my core when I printed it in my MP3DP V4 thread but I figured I would add it back here to keep stuff together.
And now the beam is assembled. I am waiting to get my hands on one of the Jackpot controllers for this build as I wanted to leave my 6 Pack on the still operational MPCNC
Anyone have any experience with the copycat Makita Routers on Amazon? Half the price seems like a good idea in my world. I have used the HF versions in the past but they lack the speed control (and are screaming loud)
Your build is looking GREAT!!! I have no experience with the amazon routers but i do run the vevor 1.5kw air cooled spindle and its SO MUCH quieter than the dewalt i ran on my LR2 Also with the vfd it has infinite speed control from 12,000 to 24,000 rpms
They seem to come in and out of stock quickly. You can call them and ask when they next shipment is expected. They were right on the money with the last one i got.
I’ve got a Katsu. No problems so far. All parts between Makita & Katsu are interchangeable.
For the price they get sold I can buy an other if it breaks down Compared to the Makita.
However, in that case I’ll also go for VFD spindly because of the noise these regular routers make…
So if VFD is not an option I can recommend the Katsu!
I picked up the Bauer model yesterday at HF. I had a 25% no exclusions coupon so it was about $50. It looks just like the Makita. I have not taken it out to see if the collet will be able to be interchanged with the 1/8 version that Ryan sells.
I want a spindle also and am holding out for the Vevor one if they ever come back in stock.
Looks like the Bauer is essentially the same router as the Makita! Have the 1/8 collet in my cart from @Ryan now.
Question on the power supply. I am trying to get my head around the 2A power supply being enough to run the machine. If all 5 motors are running at 800mA then that exceeds the 2A range. Can someone explain what I feel I am missing?
Crazy when one V1 machine can build another LOL. I printed the parts for the new LR3 on the V4 and cut the struts on the original LR3. Now printing replacement parts for the original LR3 and picked up the aluminum to cut new struts for the old LR3 on the new LR3 LOL.
I believe so. They both have the 24v power supply from @vicious1 I don’t believe you will ever see all 5 motors pull 800ma at once. And even so it would only be for a second and no problem. I have taken some heavy cuts on my full sheet LR3 and never once have I had the power supply be an issue. In fact I’m about to look at adding some LEDs to the new LR3 that I will pull power from that supply as well.
