LR3 Bundle Out of Stock

This sounds hopeful, when do you expect the first RC4(or 3?) to be build?

the RC3 (fourth round of beta testing) is printing for many of us right now.

Ryan figured the first beta was pretty close, and then… maybe not. Release Candidate 1, well, it was a release candidate, right? Now we’re 2 rounds past that. Pretty sure we’re close, it’s just a matter of being sure that we aren’t having tgroubles that need fixing before we set the rest of you on it, then discover that there are problems that we can’t resolve with the current set.

We have a diverse set of use cases on it, however we’re all veteran builders, so we might sidestep issues that new builders face. the thing there is that we can help you if you do fall to one of those issues.

When this thing is done, it will be a solid, stout machine, great price/performance point, like the LR3 is.

I made the conversion from a Primo to a LR3. In terms of hardware, I obviously had to buy the linear rails and I had a handful of extra M3 screws laying around. But for the M5 bolts/nuts, and the 5/16 bolts/nuts and 608 bearings. I had plenty from just what I ordered for the Primo.

You mean ordered outside of my kit? I don’t want people to get mislead. The primo hardware kit does not cover a full LR3/4 build by any means.

Yes, I apologize I should have been more clear. I already had most of the electronics/wiring necessary when I built my primo, which is why I opted to not purchase a kit from V1. I just followed the table for hardware needs and purchased locally.

Do you need any first time builders beta testers? I am technologically savvy, have a good 3D printer but new to CNC and willing to invest the time.

Ping me if interested!

Thank you very much for the offer!! Once it passes these guys tests we should be golden, they are not letting me half heartily do ANYTHING. It is a good thing though, this should be a great build.

Can’t wait! Thank you and everyone involved for the commitment and great work!

That’s an understatement. Sometimes I bet we drive Ryan NUTS.

LR4 is a BEAST.

I know the rails are beefing up. Are they still conduit or have you found a better piece?

The conduit has gone from 3/4" nominal (23.4mm OD) to 1" nominal (29.5mm OD) which affords a substantial increase in rigidity.

Of course there are non-US size options available, too, one may be flexible enough to allow an alternate North American size even larger option. :eyes:

Since the conduit for LR4 is going to 29.5mm OD, will there be a stainless tubing size increase also, like to 31.8mm OD?

LR4 choices are 29.5, 30 and 32mm tube sizes.

31.8 (1.25") isn’t a defined size, however I built RC2 with 1.25" (nominal 31.75 or 31.8 mm tubing), actually measured with calipers as close to 31.7mm.

RC2 built perfectly workable with a few caveats. The Y rail is a trifle loose in the clips and can be easily spun and moved. The core has a bit of slack, but is well within the adjustment capability.

All in all, should be usable.

But wen?

SendCutSend .com is a great option. Cheap and Fast. You can get them out of stainless if you wanted.

Which you can’t do per the license Ryan publishes the files under.

Just curious. Since it is no longer available thru the V1 store, would it be an infringement??

The license is still the license, whether it is available for purchase or not.

If you already have a Primo, MDF YZ plates should be easy.

XZ Plates can be printed and they will be fine. I run printed XZ plates on mine. If you absolutely want aluminum, then only @vicious1 can say whether he will make an exception to the license.

What is your timeline? At this point, it is probably close enough that I’d be inclined to say you might be better off waiting for the LR4 release, which looks to be a significant performance improvement over the LR3

My only concern is MDF. I live in Mobile, AL and MDF & moisture/humidity, dont do well together.
