LR2 to LR3 design changes?

@vicious1 I’m just curious for what reasons did you make the switch from a flat, horizontally oriented gantry in LR v1 and v2, to a upright vertically oriented gantry in LR v3?

I’m going to make a guess that the primary reason (maybe only reason?) is that the vertically oriented rails, with stiffening strut plates, reduces sagging?

Yup, when passing the router between the tubes you can not stiffen them very easy. To keep the LR2 style you would need two LR3-4 beams side by side with the router in the middle.
