I do not know about the title. But you’ll understand soon
I’m running a Low Rider 2 with LightBurn.
I am trying to cut this shape:
And this is the result:
Great right? But look at the bottom edge, it is thinner than the top edge. The machine first cuts all the squares, and then cuts the outer frame.
All the squares should be 14mm, but measures around ~14,12… That’s fine. And they do not seem to be different in size closer to the bottom edge that is thinner either.
What I have checked:
- Cut part is square (measure diagonal corner to corner)
- Machine 300x300mm test cut is also square
- I cut a 400mm test line on Y and it is almost on point 400,2-ish prolly. I can’t measure this precise.
- Gantry it aligned to the table on each sides
- I checked X and Y belts. They are fine. No backlash on Y from what I can tell.
It feels like I should be on point here, but still I am not? All my tests are fine, but my cut piece has this issue still.
Any ideas why?
with my LR2, I always found that the machine had a tendancy to wander a bit in the X axis, where the wheels would not quite remain in the same track, and wander a bit.
I have seen people put guides in place to keep the wheels in the same track, and that looks like it helped a lot. I never got to doing this, though, since I tore my LR2 apart for the LR3 beta.
Would u say that X is the axis I have troubles with here?
And yeah I know. Maybe I will try the X tracks trick one day. But I should be fine. My pieces are still square right?
Square, sure, because the Y axis isn’t crooked enough to register, if it only moved 1mm off going back and forth for all the small squares, then it is a really small angle, but if the whole gantry has shifted 1mm, then the first pieces and the last pieces will be off by that amount. That is what you are seeing with the outside square (the last cut) being offset from the inner squares.
Aaaaah okey.
So X is wandering. Again. I wonder how I should fix it this time

Hehe, yeah sure
some day!
Thinking about adding a board with a track on one of the sides. I assume there is not issue to have the wheels higher up (in a groove) on one side, as long as the gantry it square on each ends?
