Lr v3 skr 1.2 board x homing not working

I have a lowrider v3, with a skrpro 1.2 board what the touch screen. Y and z homing work correctly but x homing has an issue. When I move x to the center using the move buttons when I home x it’s moves towards 0 and stops 2 inches from the switch. If I start the router in the middle then power up, and then home it moves 10 or so mm positive the stops. Of I keep hitting the home x it just moves a little over positive then stops. It says that is now zero. I checked the connectivity of the x switch and all looks good. Used a meter and also the red led lights up when I click the switch. I don’t think x ever worked homing just worked around it. I also recompiler the firmware setting the bed size to the size of the bed plus 2 inches to see if that was it. No go.

Thanks for starting a new thread on this.

Watch the LED when you do this. It should start with the LED off. Does the LED come on when it reaches the 2" before the endstop?

This is classic open circuit behavior. Is the LED on or off when you do the Home X commands?

It sounds like the wiring tests okay with a meter, and the circuit works when you manually assert the switch, but then fails when in operation. This sounds like a poor (possibly intermittent) wiring connection, possibly at the switch itself, but more likely at the controller.

Looking at the LEDs when pressing the HOME command is key here. The LEDs must be off before the command, and should come on only once the switch is asserted.

It starts off then comes on sometimes before it hits the switch. I reconnected the switch wires. Using solder so I know that is stable maybe the connector at the board . I also put 1.5k restores soldered to the backside of the board for all the end stops as recommended by other posts

Let me try and I will get back to thank you
Video added, light starts off then goes on 2 inches from the switch

Just a thought, did you remove the plastic shrouds on the JST connectors for the endstops?

That can prevent the Dupont endstop connectors from making good contact.

Pictures of your build, especially the control board, would help.

Could it be thinking that 2 inches from the stop is the end of the board? Maybe something like an offset?

You have the wires in E0 connected incorrectly. They should be on the left and center, you have them on the center and right.

There is a possibility that you have damaged the board, but perhaps it is still okay.

Also you haven’t removed the plastic shrouds from the board on the endstop connector pins, and likely not on the stepper motor connectors either. This is a known issue that can cause intermittent problems.

From the docs

The current V1 Engineering wiring kits have the Molex style terminations on them. The SKR Pro is the first board to be offered with JST directional style connections. To keep the stepper direction easy to change a pretty easy solution is just pulling off the JST plastic shields. The pin spacing is the same and pulling the shields off make for a more solid connection to the Molex style wires we used. Needle nosed pliers and a little wiggling make this pretty easy.

Also I think that you may have the endstop wires installed incorrectly.

X endstop should be in X1 position on the board, and doesn’t normally have an extension cable.

For simplicity and clarity, I suggest that you also rewire the steppers so that X is in the X position, YMin is in the Y position, ZMin is in the Z0 position, YMax is in the E0 position, and ZMax is in the E1 position.

Capture

Then wire the endstops accordingly.

Looks like you figured it out, removing the shrouds did it.

Thank you so so much, now I don’t have to live without homing appreciate it

Have a great day
