Lowrider xz plate

Good afternoon everybody

Im slowly printing all the files, think the old ender 3 is on her last legs. Trying to work out the aluminum plates, i would just order but by the time they get here its about $170… does anyone have the file so i can cut out the plates myself. I have dxf files but the size is off, and cant find what size the plate should be, or what size bit to use…

Hi there,

it looks like your Programm does assume the wrong units when importing the file. But you can scale the drawing easily with checking the holes where the trucks of the linear rails will be mounted. The 4 holes should have a distance of 20 mm in each direction (horizontal and vertical). If I remember correctly the bore diameter is 3.1 mm.

I cut my plates with a 3 mm bit. That is too big for the top pocket in the plate in the min side. For that I used a 1.5 mm bit.

When cutting, be careful with the right angle corner near the end stop arms. I broke 2 bits there in the finishing path, because the corner introduces a sudden load change on the bit, which my Primo did not handle well.

Thankyou for all that info… have just ordered more bits as i only had 6mm bit… you must have had a slow cut rate and doc using a 1.5mm bit.

I need to check the speeds and feeds tomorrow. But I used estlcam and trochoidal milling, so doc was somewhere between 2-3 mm.

When I am at my machine again, I will check the values.

Sorry for the late reply, but here are the screenshots of my three steps on the xy-plates with my speeds and feeds.
