I still have no table. The car rental doesn’t answer my request. I’m afraid, they are in their holidays.
But I was in the mood to do something for my Lowraider. I sourced a touchscreen (13,3 Zoll, FHD 1920×1080) on amazon. And I got me an old computer from work. They don’t have to pay for the recycling, and I get a computer for free.
With Ubuntu on it, autologin for an unprivileged user, and autostart of chromium into fullscreen, this gives a nice console for my Lowrider. FigUI looks great (demo mode in the image, bit it works on my Lowrider too).
Yes, I did some vinyl cutting on my brother plotter.
I’m thinking about changing the monitor arm. The one in use is one I borrowed from the office. I may print something smaller for the small monitor.
I really can’t wait to do the first cuts! It’s really fun to build something else then kites. And I can’t wait to use it for my kites. I’m full of ideas!
I tried first with an old laptop to. But I didn’t like the feel of using a touchpad and keyboard. I have a very similar construction with a touchscreen for my old 3D printer, and I love a touchscreen for maschine control. It just feels so natural.
If I hadn’t the opportunity to source an old pc for free, I would have stayed with the old laptop! But rescuing the computer from the landfill and giving it a second live seams a good idea to me.
